A hundred and fifty documents a year, free.

Free forever for verified nonprofits, not a trial: about three documents a week, renewed every January. Past it, $30 a month for a thousand, and as many people as you like on any plan.

Volunteers handing out supplies from folding tables at an outdoor community event in late afternoon light.

Not sure which one?

Two questions, and nothing to fill in.

The obvious question

Why a hundred and fifty, and why not per envelope?

Per-envelope pricing taxes the behaviour we want

Charging per signature makes an organization ration the tool. The important contracts go through it and the volunteer forms go back to paper. So the tiers are bands, not meters: you buy a year’s documents, not a year’s chances to be charged. Inside your band the next document costs nothing, so the answer to “is this worth using Baton for?” is always yes, and a volunteer form never has to justify itself. Reach the top of your band and we talk about the next tier; we do not meter you toward it.

A hundred and fifty covers the routine paperwork

About three a week: volunteer agreements, board resolutions, the occasional grant. It is deliberately not sized above what every charity sends — an organization that crosses it is growing, and $30 a month for a thousand is the next rung, not a wall. For scale: DocuSign’s cheapest paid plan is $120 a year for 60 envelopes. Our free one includes 150. If your year is busier, tell us — we would rather hear it than have you ration the tool.

The floor does not rise

Everything in the nonprofit column (routing, templates, search, the audit trail, the certificate) stays there. New paid capabilities may arrive above it, and an API and AI summaries are on the Impact roadmap for exactly that reason. Nothing you can do today moves behind the price tomorrow.

Eligibility

What counts as a nonprofit, and how we check

A registered charity, NGO, foundation, association, social enterprise, school, place of worship, or community group. To confirm it, we ask for three things:

  1. 1

    Your registration certificate

In Nigeria, your CAC document. Elsewhere, whatever your local registry issues: a charity number, a certificate of incorporation, a determination letter. Any one of them is enough.

  2. 2

    Your organization’s website

A live address we can open. If you do not have a site, an active page on a platform you control works just as well.

  3. 3

Something showing the work is real

An annual report, a funder’s letter, a programme document, board minutes. One document that shows an active cause rather than a registration on paper.

You do not wait on us to start. Create your organization and send your first document straight away, because verification is what confirms the free allowance, not a gate in front of the product. Until it is confirmed, nothing is charged and nothing is deleted.

If you are a commercial organization, you are welcome here on Impact. Same product, same audit trail, $50 a month.

Compared

What is different, and what is the same

Four rows where Baton differs and two where it does not. A comparison that found us ahead on everything would not be worth reading, and the two even rows are the ones most people assume are a differentiator.

How to take your documents and go

Download the signed PDFs. Each one carries its certificate page (who signed, when, from where, and the hash of the file they saw) as part of the document itself, so the evidence does not depend on us still being here.

That is the only export guarantee worth making, and it is the reason the certificate is baked into the PDF rather than served from our database. More detail on the audit trail and security.
